The Harris economic plan
As I mentioned in my posts on the VP debate there was mention of Vice President Harris's economic plan if she were elected President. In this weeks post I want to look over the plan and talk about what the plan actually seeks out to do, so lets break it down!
So on her official campaign website (which I will link at the bottom of this post) Harris breaks down what she seeks to accomplish for the economy. Her first point is on taxes, and in this portion Harris vows to do a few things: she vows to expand the Child Tax Credit (which is currently is a tax break for if you have children who can work) to include families with newborn children and allow them a $6,000 tax credit. She vows that no one making under $400,000 a year will pay more in taxes, in this same portion she also vows that the richest in the country will be required to pay their fair share through things like a tax on stock buybacks and billionaire minimum tax. In the next portion she talks about how she seeks to make rent and housing more affordable. In order to do this she proposes that she will pass legislation new ways of price fixing by landlords, and to provide first time home buyers with $25,000 towards their down payment. Her nect point is on small businesses. She vows to expand the start up tax deduction for small businesses from $5,000 to $50,000 and to tackle the everyday issues that small businesses experience. In her next point she to "take on bad actors". In order to do this she vows to take on anti-competitive practices, groups who exploit emergencies for profit, and Big Pharma to lower the costs of medicine. On top of these she makes vows to accomplish tasks like expanding the Inflation Reduction Acts to cover more medications to lower their costs, and to work with states to cancel medical debt for even more Americans. On top of this she vows to protect and secure Social Security and Medicare. In her next point she vows to American innovations and workers. She vows to expand on the work the Biden-Harris administration has accomplished, she vows to support American leadership in fields and unions, she also vows to raise the minimum wage. In her next point she vows to strengthen public education and training, as well as to continue fighting the burden of student loan debt. In her last point she vows to lower household energy costs. She also vows to help fight climate change while also battling things like pollution.
